Elizabeth Thompson is an architect and landscape designer. She specializes in residential design, creating fluidity between indoor and outdoor environments, with a focus on green design and renewable energy including solar, wind and geothermal technologies. She obtained a B.A., B.Arch., and M.Arch. from Syracuse University, and a L.A.Cert. from George Washington University. After founding her own firm in Washington DC, where she practiced as both carpenter and architect, Elizabeth worked with Robert A.M. Stern Architects in New York City, becoming the firm’s first woman Associate. Since 1990 she has been the principal in Elizabeth Thompson Architect, with offices in New York City and Orient, Long Island. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, The Architect’s Garden, and Yesterday’s Structures: Today’s Homes, among other publications.
